Who We Are

The Garden Design Society (GDS) is a non-profit professional organisation which offers a range of services and activities to support and encourage excellence in garden design in New Zealand.  The group was founded by a group of enthusiastic professionals working as garden designers and teachers.  We share a passion for excellence in garden design and the creation of fabulous gardens. 

We formed the Garden Design Society with the aim of sharing our experiences and inspiration and knowledge.  We promote excellence in the teaching and study of garden design and encourage and support our members to reach new levels of innovation and creativity in garden design through continuing their education.

What We Do

GDS Members include a range of people passionate about garden design - garden owners, students of garden design and professional garden designers.

Accredited GDS Members are approved by the Garden Design Society as garden designers who can provide a full professional service in the industry. All the Garden Designers listed on this site are accredited members. We keep in touch with our members via our website and by e-mail updates of upcoming events including speakers, workshops and a variety of site visits.

Our annual calendar of events provides a range of stimulating opportunities for anyone passionate about garden design to exchange ideas and to keep in touch with the latest developments in the industry. It also offers many opportunities for continuing professional development for professionals working in the garden design industry.
